OM SHANTI

Shyam Benegal, an inspirational guru and a dear friend of the festival has passed. Magnificent career aside he was an exemplary Human Being who showed up and highlighted the plight of many downtrodden people. Goodbye Shyam Benegal. Condolences to his family, loved ones and Mumbai team. Shyam Benegal pictured below in 2022 with LIFF CEO & Programming Director, Cary Rajinder Sawhney.

Passionate about gaming?

We are pleased to announce our Manchester Autumn Festival, which will run from 26th September to 5th October. We will showcase the best of new Indian and South Asian GAMING as well as archival shorts.

Last year’s massive FORMAT gaming and nightlife event attracted over 2,500 attendees. This year’s South Asian Gaming Zone will be at Camp And Furnace in Liverpool, and looks to be a considerably larger event. We hope to see you there! We’re so proud to be not only providing Indian developers an opportunity to exhibit their games in the United Kingdom for the first time, but also to give our community the chance to play games never seen outside of India before exclusively at FORMAT in Liverpool on Thursday 26th September.

We will also have a Format Game Developers Lecture, a Video Gaming tournament and Our archival programme, entitled I’m British But… inspired by the pioneering documentary of legendary British filmmaker Gurinder Chadha.

Supported by BFI Audience Fund.
